Article

1. The article is about a 14- foot baby whale that was euthanized by an Austrailian official. It got abandoned by its mother and was wondering aroung close to the shore, hungry. They said it appeared to have been attached by a shark and it had no chance of survival. They decided the best thing to do was to euthanize it.

2. The audience is to anyone who is interested in animals because it is directed towards animal lovers.

3. This article interested me because I love animals, especially sea animals. Whenever I saw the title I wanted to read it because I think it's sad when they euthanize animals.

4. I had never heard of this before reading the article.

5. I learned that baby whales can already be 14 feet long by 1-2 months. I also learned that mother whales will abandon their babies if they think something is wrong with them. I learned that Aboriginal whale whisperers put feathers on their head and white paint on their face, then sing a humming tune to sooth whales.

6. Why couldn't they just raise the whale themselves and keep it in an aquarium or safe place?
